Even if some knowledge is embedded in the tool, it doesn't play a role unless you can understand how the tool works.

Construction activities where learners are provided with tools that aim to convey domain knowledge.
The pattern
When knowledge is embedded in tools, design those tools so that learners can disassemble them or observe their inner working, to the degree in which the embedded knowledge is apparent.
